Contention ratio refers to how many users are sharing the data capacity on a provider's line. In simple terms, it is a count of how many other premises are using the same main broadband line as you.

If your contention ratio is 1:30, this means thirty households are using one line.

Standard contention ratios can be around 1:50 for home broadband, and 1:20 for business broadband. When your contention ratio is high – this means a lot of people are connected to the same line as you. This can potentially drag down your broadband speeds.

So as you can see, our contention ratio is far lower than industry standard.
