What is a Leased Line?

A leased line is a DIA (Dedicated Internet Access). The Broadband connection is uncontended and is delivered in the way of a full fibre connection to the property (FTTP).

Full fibre is presented and deployed by Openreach.

Multiple stages:
  • Desktop survey
  • On site survey
  • All completed by Openreach engineer
  • Average lead time for installation is 90 working days but can be less

We carry out our own desktop quote initially which will give you an indicative ECC (Excess Construction Charge). Then both the desktop survey and a physical survey are carried out.

We can apply for GB connection vouchers up to the value of £2500. This can be used against ECCs but not to lower the monthly cost. It is only available if the property has not claimed a GB voucher previously, based on the unique reference number.

Technical elements
When quoting for a leased line there are 2 main components.

1. Bearer

What the physical line is capable of delivering. This could be 100Mbps which is between 10Mbps and 100Mbps. Or it could be 100Mbps, which is between 100Mbps and 1000Mbps in 100Mbps increments.

2. Speed of service

All business line faults have an SLA of 4 working hours to resolve
